Print Types Explained

- Direct Printing – When pantone matching is important. This method is used to apply spot colours directly onto the mug by printing through a screen onto the rotating body of the mug. Artwork should be supplied as a vector image. Up to 4 spot colours.
- Transfer Printing – Can be pantone matched. With this process the design is printed through a screen onto specialised paper, which is then cover coated and is applied by hand to the mug. This allows for detailed designs as the artwork is printed onto a flat surface and then applied to the mug. Up to 8 spot colours.
- Dye Sublimation. Great for photographic quality images. Artwork can be supplied has a high resolution jpg file. Dye Sublimation printing uses organic colour dyes, opening up a much more diverse spectrum of colour and giving a bright and glossy appearance. This process lends itself to colourful designs and photographic images, which can be reproduced straight from a computer creating smooth gradients and tones.
- Allows individualisation of each mug.
- Digital Printing – Instead of films or screens, high quality images are used. These images are printed in CMYK, then cover coated and hand applied as a transfer. This is then fired into the glaze making a durable and lifelong print.
